The Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal, supported by Compagnia dell’Arpa, is glad to announce the Italian play “Il dolore pazzo dell’amore”, presented by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco(narrator), with the original music of Mario Incudine (voice and strings), with the accompaniment of Antonio Vasta (accordion and button accordion).
The play is based on the novel of the same name by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco. He shows the poetic side of Sicily, to contradict the stereotypes that are generally associated with the Italian island perception, increasingly represented in movies and Tvshows.
Buttafuoco and Incudine (who is also the director), accompanied by the musician Antonio Vasta (soundtrack composer), stage the chants of a “cunto” that is like a blast from the past for the author Buttafuoco, full of his homeland’s customs. He represents Sicily’s traditions as a story-teller from ancient times, crystallizing those stories, those chants, and making them the representation of a myth that survived world dark times.
We are thrilled to announce the new date for our Zadie Smith event: Thursday October 26th. Now to be joined in conversation with Jenny Zhang! And hosted by Eliza Robertson.

Fourth year in a row! Los Viejha in colaboration with Ágora de la Cultura Mexicana en Montreal and Mexique à Montréal invite all the people to come and celebrate The Day of the Dead by presenting the multidisciplinary show “La Tilica”
By paying tribute to the deceased, we reinforce our sense of belonging, as our roots, either Mexican, Quebecers or any other origin. Through music, dance, poetry, theater and video, the colorful narrative of this show will make you travel on traditional Mexican environments filled with Afro-Latin music and Latin-American fusion.
The Day of the Dead altar is the heart of our spectacle and it’s through it that the public is invited to meet the people that are no longer here. We invite you to bring your own memories (photos, objects, writings, etc.) to make an inclusive and collective experience.
To crown it all, traditional Mexican meals will be offered (Pan de muerto, Tamales, etc.) in order to wake all your senses and make this a unique and memorable experience.
